Philemon 01 – Cast Away on the Letter A

Philémon is a series in the Franco-Belgian comics style created by French artist Fred (1931–2013) and published by Dargaud. The series began serial publication in the French magazine Pilote in 1965, before it eventually became an album series. The general tone of the series is of fantastic realism, depicting the adventures of the young farmboy Philémon in surreal adventures featuring odd creatures in odd places, and it is considered one of the most poetic and original bande dessinée series of all time.

Fierce (2023)

During the Second World War, Léo worked as a waitress in the family inn, which had been requisitioned by the occupying German forces. In 1980, Sylvie Rancourt and her boyfriend moved to Montreal from rural Northern Quebec. With limited formal education or training, they had a hard time finding employment, so Rancourt began dancing in strip clubs. These experiences formed the backbone of the first Canadian autobiographical comic book, Melody, which Rancourt wrote, drew, and distributed, starting in 1985.

Moebius-Paradis-Dante

One of the masters of contemporary comics, he has also lent his visionary imagination to cinema, creating the settings for cult films such as Blade Ranner, Tron, Dune, Alien and finally the Fifth Element. In 1998 it was celebrated in Italy by an important exhibition, Infinito, hosted in Palermo (magazzini Ferroviari ai Lolli), Milan (Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi), Venice (Fondazione Querini Stampalia). In 2000 an anthology was presented in Naples, at the Città della Scienza.

The Forest

The Forest is a graphic novella told via twenty-five singular illustrations, without words, of which only Swiss artist Thomas Ott is capable. A young boy sneaks away from a family funeral and sinks into the forest depths, where he confronts man's greatest fear and must choose his path. Drawing with a technique called scratchboard, where a white surface is covered with a black layer and scratched away, Ott creates images out of negative space to harrowing effect.

When I first saw it, I was weirded out how young Doll of Jade looked exactly like the Gypsy girl I dated one summer.

moebius - The Major - expanded edition+extras (2018)

The Major is at another mystical spiritual quest again, this time hunting for a key that will enable him to dream any dream he wants to. I'm not sure if this should have even been published, it is essentially a sketchbook drawings by moebius started in 1997. Moebius worked on it on and off untill 2009. It started with him just goofing around, the actual story begins at page 100. It was published in 2018, long after moebius' death.

All Max wants to do with his life is make comics, and all his parents do is discourage him. His life takes a turn for the hopeful when a mysterious recluse, a Parisian comics veteran, buys a ruined chateau in the woods near Max’s house. Dracula (Bram Stoker) (Georges Bess) - FRA

The brilliant cartoonist Georges Bess took it upon himself to create his own version of that myth here, keeping to the idea of portraying the soul of the novel as well as possible. Endowed with his well-known graphic virtuosity, he chooses the black and white technique for the panels of dark beauty to emphasize the strength of his lines and give them a breath of Gothic, quite unusual for him. His Dracula is a masterpiece that once again proves that Bess is undeniably one of the best cartoonists in contemporary comics.

In Paris, all the coffers are empty... Or almost. Two tons that an armored van must urgently transfer from Paris to Bordeaux. Except that Franck Popp and Ange Sambionetti have another plan for the piggy bank.
